"I wouldn’t just have one or two biscuits whenever I felt like a treat – I’d have two entire packets," she admits. One of her downfalls was her addiction to chocolate digestives. Sammie would lose a few pounds, fall off the wagon then put it all back on again. Yet it was the same old story every time. "Every January and June when something new would come out, I’d be on it, always asking myself, would this diet work?" Addicted to biscuits "I must have tried at least 40 of them over the years," she confesses. Even eating nothing but cabbage at one stage. By my mid-twenties I was a size 16 and then, as I approached my 30s, I was pushing towards a size 18. But when I stopped at 16, I went up to a size 14. Instead of opting for her usual calorific fry-up for breakfast, and tucking into a pasty and cakes for lunch followed by curries and lasagne for dinner with treacle pudding for afters, she immediately began choosing lighter meals, like veggie stir-frys and grilled chicken with salad.
